Remedial Massage and Myotherapy

Remedial Massage Therapy

Remedial Massage therapists are trained to assess and treat soreness of muscles, tendons, ligaments, and connective tissue (i.e. the bodies’ soft tissue structures). Remedial Massage therapists hold, at minimum, a Diploma of Massage.

The goal of remedial massage is to help restore the body to normal health and function by “remediating” (i.e. treating, remedying) the presenting condition, reducing pain and/or improving function.

Massage therapists use a range of hands-on treatment modalities, such as muscular and myofascial massage, passive stretching, and acupressure.

Our Remedial Massage Therapist, Suzanna Vukovic, has over 10 years’ experience working in the therapeutic industry.

Myotherapy

Myotherapists hold an Advanced Diploma in Myotherapy, or a Bachelor of Myotherapy.

Similarly to Remedial Massage therapists, Myotherapists aim to treat muscle dysfunction or injury, which may be causing pain and/or restricted joint movement and function.

They employ several hands-on and other treatment modalities to help those suffering from chronic musculoskeletal conditions/pain, postural conditions and injuries obtained from work or sport.

Some of these modalities include:

  • Hands on massage and joint mobilisation
  • Dry needling
  • TENS (Electrotherapy)
  • Cupping
  • Exercise and/or stretching.

All Remedial Massage and Myotherapy appointments must include an in-depth patient consult and assessment, to determine the patients’ health status, their presenting pain or injury, and their treatment requirements.

Myotherapy and Remedial massage appointments can be claimed and rebated under your approved private health fund.

Conditions our massage and Myotherapy practitioners may be able to assist with:

  • Neck pain and shoulder pain.
  • Joint pain and stiffness, including arthritis.
  • Repeat strain injuries (RSI).
  • Rehabilitation from other acute or chronic soft and connective tissue injuries.
